Fashionable Friday: Vintage Glamour in Pink and Black

{Pink Bow Hat Trick and Kitty Stowaway : ink pen and watercolour illustration by © Shell-Sherree}

Did someone say Mad Hatter's Christmas Tea Party?  We could really get into the spirit of things by dressing like a giant ribboned gift.  When I spotted this vintage Gilles Bensimon photo for Elle magazine 1987 {vintage ... really? Egads how it flies!} it struck me as glamorously festive.  Hmm, I guess massive satin bows pull that kind of inevitable sway.  Behold the eensy-weensy bag which could be new again, given the current repopularisation of bags you can only fit a change purse and lippie into.  {And a stowaway kitten.}  For the vertically-petite amongst us who have struggled under the weight of tote bags half our size for the past decade or more ~ hooray for that!

I'll be posting more regularly in the New Year and will see you again before Christmas ~ I thought I'd better give you a heads-up so you don't fall off your gold-macaron-encrusted pastel-upholstered flying Louis chairs!  À bientôt!  And on that note ...

Happy Fashionable Friday to you!

  1. That slender and beautifully garbed young lady has certainly come to the right place among all our slender and beautifully garbed selves. Who among us indeed is not wearing a hat this very minute as we read our screens? Certainly not moi.

  4. Oh, quelle élégance! If 1987 = vintage, then I am a well-tended antique—and therefore quite valuable, of course. :~}
    I'm also looking forward to more wit and whimsy from ma belle Shell in 2015!

Merci, grazie, thank you for joining our conversation lounge. Your smile lights up the room. Even more beautifully than our crystal chandelier. x
