Francophile Friday: Let's Scoot

Kitty Cat Fashionably Scootering in Paris: Illustration by Shell-Sherree

Caution: do not try this at home, s'il vous plaît!  Our damsel and her kitty are scootering along these Parisian cobblestones to attend to a pastry emergency of the gravest kind: the quest for a colour-coordinated macaron.  Pink would be too easy, so I suspect the flavour choice will be blueberry, blueberry or blueberry.  A quaint old franc for your thoughts?  On arrival, we shall collapse onto our special Camouflage Chaise {designed to allow us to eat in peace and drop crumbs discreetly} then kick off our shoes while waiting for our colour-coordinated footrub to dry off and arrive.  All in good time... good things should never be rushed.  And on that note...

Happy Francophile Friday to you!

My best wishes to weary east coasters in the US, hit with snowstorms and more blackouts just as some were starting to recover from Sandy.  You'll find good information here with regards to helping animal shelters ~ they will be stretched past their limits, so let's do all we can to give them relief.

  1. Except for one thing, that's the way to scout for macarons!

  2. Have kitty, will travel. Is that a Briard on the scooter in the second link? So cute! So is this illo.

  3. What a gorgeous blueberry gown! (I was going to say "periwinkle" but I didn't think that was quite right.) I love how kitty is secured with a fashionable belt so she can be safe on this critical macaron mission. And Hugh looks particularly yummy in that hue, but he has some competition. Did you see Ryan Gosling in his blueberry jacket? Oh my.

  4. Kitty is clearly an old pro at this mode of transport, so no worries there. Just one question, Shell: May I enjoy my yummy macarons, equally yummy chaise, and the ministrations of our almost-too-yummy Hugh all at the same time?

  5. score!... 9.0 for all your selections Shell! i'm having trouble getting the 'colour co-ordinated foot rub' off my mind ... totally elegant by the way x

  6. Thanks, Cali! And I just followed the Pinterest breadcrumb trail to discover that scootering Norman is indeed a Briard and somewhat of a celebrity!! Here's more {including a video}...

Susan ~ periwinkle sounds perfectly lovely as the colour. We can reserve blueberry for the macarons and still be in order. ;) And you are psychic, as I pinned Ryan in that suit yesterday and was very close to using it, but didn't want to be unfaithful. But now that you bring it up...

Dear Alexa ~ yes, you may. And please do!!!

dkshopgirl ~ you and me, both! Deborra-Lee Furness was on The Living Room last night and she's such a delight. I didn't see her feet but I'm guessing they are very well-rubbed! Hugh seems like that kind of guy.

  8. Shell, I love your writing. And I'm glad we get to ride a scooter. Walking in those shoes, much as I love them, is beyond me.

  9. Or, I should say, I am beyond walking in those shoes.

  10. She does, hiker! It was subconscious but now that you say it...

Thanks, dear Petrea. And I love your clarification. There's a world of difference between the two statements.

  11. Wow wouldn't it be wonderful to zip around Paris in this gorgeous dress! Love the earrings too. You're so great at giving Paris that added touch of charm. As for your links, I'm glad you included the fainting couch because I started feeling wobbly with the shoes, but nearly collapsed seeing Hugh on the beach! Granted I was soon revived when I saw Ryan in that blue jacket. It's amazing that you know just what we want to see!

  12. Thanks, Katie ~ I'm glad to help! And the earrings are clip-ons, since I can only wear clip-ons and there's a hopeless shortage of lovely dangly earrings in clip-on style. Pierceless earring-wearers of the world, unite!

  13. A fun ride for a worthwhile mission (especially the color-coordinated footrub....). The dress is lovely -- would the skirt swirl if she danced? And Kitty looks like she's a pro at scootering.

  15. Ms M ~ would you like the skirt to swirl when she dances? No problem...

Thanks, Carla! Our kitty looks like she appreciates the gravity of the situation. ;)

  16. Oh I've seen some fashionable ladies scooting around Paris but none in evening wear! I think the kitty is having a ball. Meepsie says she'd like to try it!

  18. In your fantasies Shell. No kitty I know is willing to put up with that.

btw: I've discovered that Twyla is an Alpha cat. My first Alpha. She so far has gotten the upper hand in every situation I've dropped her into. And she's so tiny. Amazing

  19. Definitely not an everyday life event, PA!! Though you'll notice the extended claws on close observation... So Twyla is a little force to be reckoned with? Heh!
