Meep: Vintage Travel

ink & watercolour weensy, 2.25" x 3" [ 6 x 8cm]

This little train goes, "Meep!" What a romantic way to travel.  As long as the porter remembers to load her luggage on board, the goldie-locked lassie looks well-prepared for any chance meeting she may encounter along the way.  And she's already put in her order for poached salmon for dinner.  Two serves ~ one of them minus the lemon butter and vegetables, please.  One has to watch one's figure, you know.

  2. How adorably meep! Have kitty will travel, huh?

"One has to watch one's figure, you know." Especially as everyone else is!

  3. How romantic! I really love the weensy ones, Shell. {BTW, the first three times I ever got on a plane, I wore a dress—no pillbox hat though.} Say, does she have white kid gloves?

  5. I love this one. Exactly how I want to travel, though the experience would be heightened if you could just draw in a second carriage behind it, full of tired and sweaty riff-raff.

  6. Take me away. (Now whenever I see one of your meep illos, first thing I look for is the mascot.)

  7. Well I'm certainly glad she gets to take her feline companion with her. I hope to travel in a train like this one day Shell, curtains and all. Maybe you could draw it out for them first? ;)

  9. Cafe ~ err, are you talking about the salmon or the kitty?

LOL, Cali! I'm starting to think that with kitty is the only way I'll ever be able to travel.

Thanks, Alexa! Travelling in a dress is very glam. Gloves? Yes. I kid you not!

Hi, Sarah! Thank you for popping in ~ it's lovely to meet you! And your art is very beautiful ~ a delight.

Mise ~ I believe the tired and sweaty riff-raff are stoking the furnace...

Hiker ~ one of the trickiest bits at that scale!

Amy ~ now that it's cold here, I find myself drawing curtains quite often. ;)

Margaret ~ ah, yes, the no-name-brand luggage. Quite a fine "wooing" device.

  10. Wow! Within mere seconds of seeing this lovely little drawing I was on the train, sporting a pillbox hat and pearls, and ready to set off on an amazing journey. I agree with Amy -- you should consider a regular feature (that you'll then turn into a book) of the adventures of this "goldie-locked lassie" and her sweet cat. Oh the wonderful stuff she must have in all that vintage luggage!

  11. Looks like the beginning of a splendid vacation. And her cat even gets to come!
    Your "weenzies" are wonderful!

  12. Katie ~ all these great ideas ~ I'm starting to wonder if shutting myself in a trunk could be the best way to focus on producing some of them!

Thanks, Ms M ~ the best kind of vacation!

  13. Oh, how romantic! Is she going to rendezvous with Cary Grant or Gregory Peck on that train? Like the others, I want to see what's in her luggage so you'll have to do a sequel, Shell!

  14. PCN ~ Gregory Peck. {No contest.}

  17. Oh I love this. What a heavenly way to travel. The only thing you don't want is Miss Marple on board. Then you know you're in trouble!

  18. LOL, Debs!! This could be more the territory of Hercule Poirot...

    It would suit you, Vicki!

  19. Oh my mom traveled in a mink pillbox to visit me in Wisconsin once! And for the record that's exactly how much luggage I took on trips BEFORE the lost luggage debacle of July, 2009! Now Miss Priss travels with a carryon bag crammed to the gills!

  20. Miss V ~ while I love the idea of swanning around with all that luggage, I'd be doing my darndest to stuff it all in one carry-on!
