Happy Francophile Frunday: If the Eiffel Tower Fits ...

{Quatorze Juillet Kitty: ink & watercolour illustration © Shell-Sherree}

You didn't really think I'd let the 14th July slip past without a little something, did you?  Here's un petit peu ~ a divertissement of sorts, albeit a weensy one.  So, how have you been?  Do tell!  Insert my personal whine here about it being winter, an overabundance of grey skies, and a distinct scarcity of cheery blue-basked sunlight I enjoy for drawing and watercolouring {rightly or wrongly ~ that's the way I like it!}  But enough about that ~ let's wear something appropriate for daytime celebrations with a quick-change when dusk falls.  Oh, and here are some non-colour-coded Parisian treats {do we really want to eat blue macarons?  Not that I'm judging...}  And on that note ...

Happy Quatorze Juillet / Fête Nationale / Bastille Day to you!

PS: Francophile Frunday = Francophile Friday on a Sunday.  Sorry I've been so absent from the blog lately!  Please pop over and Like my Facebook page to keep in touch between posts.  Merci, grazie, thank you...

  1. Oh lucky day! What a treat to see an un petit illo from you. Ella is such a trooper donning the Eiffel Tower for our amusement. She wears it well. I hope you get some sunshine soon to lift your mood. You should treat yourself to those fabulous dresses!

    1. Ella is a trooper, Susan ~ the illustrated version of her, that is. :) I think she'd beg to differ if I tried it for real.

  3. It's not everyone who can carry off that hat. Or balance it, for that matter. Happy 14th to you, too!

    1. It must be the British shorthair head, hiker. It's a good solid noggin.

  4. Kitty don't need no stinkin' party whistle. She knows how to whistle. You know how to whistle, don't you, Shell? You just put your lips together - and blow.

    Happy Quatorze Juillet to you!

    1. That is such a great scene! Look at the sparkle in Bogie's eyes as he looks at Baby. One of the best movies of all time!

      One good clip deserves another.

  6. You know, I think I do NOT want blue Macarons, but I don't mind green, as long as it's pistacio.

    1. Pistachio is definitely in the mix, Margaret.

  7. Macie's all for celebrating, but not so sure she'd wear any hat. But she does say "hats off to Ella and Meeps" for being such good sports.

I hope you and Ella celebrated in style!

    1. I understand Macie's reservations, Ms M. It's wise not to leap into such things willy-nilly.

  8. That is clearly the world's most accommodating kitty! Shell, everyone deserves a break—but I admit I would have been disappointed if you had not shown up at all pour la fete national (and with an appropriately fabulous wardrobe, of course). Bisoux to you, ma belle!

    1. Alexa, I'd have disappointed myself, too, if I'd missed it. Ella gave me a talking to and told me to get my act into gear. ;) Bisoux, ma chère!

  12. I know I'm very late to the party, but maybe everyone's still in a celebratory mode. I know I am now seeing this adorable kitty illustration! Delightful way to mark Bastille Day. Love the clothes and the macarons too!

  13. We set up a roster system, Katie, so we're all still fresh and raring to go ~ though we have migrated from champagne macarons to cognac macarons...
