Francophile Friday: Flowers & Shutters

ink & watercolour illustration, 7" x 8.75" [18 x 22.5cm] ACQUIRE PRINTS

On a day when one has gone everywhere in Paris, as Virginia felt this particular day {thank you as always, dear V!}, a relaxed lunch with a view like this is in order.   And your chances of scoring such a view in Paris would be pretty high.  Shutters, flowering pot plants ~ perhaps even the occasional adventurous kitty cat ~ these are commonplace but never common.  I shall consult my Filofax to see whose turn it is to charm the inhabitants into a weekend stay for us.  No, wait.  I see I already have some volunteers who are eminently qualified for the job.  And on that note...

Happy Francophile Friday to you!

PS:  You might recall that some of my illustrations are available as customised stationery at Nôte Couture.  To my delight, I was also commissioned to create a custom illustration for Nôte Couture's blog banner.  {Thanks, dear Julie!}  It's over HERE if you'd like to take a peep.

  1. Ah, sweet! It's Friday and I get my dose of Shell Sherree! And those lucky folks at Note Courture do as well.

  2. I'm more than happy to snag this apartment for us! (When they heard it was for you, Shell, the owners were more than happy to absent themselves for the weekend.) :~} And I see that Virginia's kitty, Meeps, is already well ensconced!

  4. Your painting is just delightful Shell - pretty as a picture - I had to look very carefully to spot Miss Kitty but there she is looking all smug - gazing out over the rooftops of her favourite city
Paris - could life be any better? Non!

  5. Aww, thanks, Petrea ~ happy Friday to you.

Alexa ~ Meeps is our reconnaissance scout. She did a great job, n'est-ce pas?

    Cafe ~ you're not alone!

Thanks, Dianne ~ a miniature garden, perfect for Miss Kitty aka Meeps. There's even some catmint in a pot at the back.

  7. I have little pink flowers in front of my windows but they're not nearly as healthy as these. Everything is better in Paris, even les fleurs. Au revoir, Altadena! I'm off to Paris (said with an exaggerated French accent).

So glad about the new commission. Obviously a very smart and savvy company.

  9. Such an inviting scene. Makes the buildings around here look so drab in comparison.

    Congrats on the banner!

  11. Wonderful view to start the weekend. Kitty looks very pleased, probably watching the butterflies and bees that come visit the flowers.

    Love your banner, too! Kudos!

  12. Merci, AnnaLivia ~ you, too!

Susan ~ they don't need Seed Bombs here. But I'm sure your pink flowers are perfectly lovely.

Hiker ~ good evening, and I'm glad to give you flowers anytime.

Cali ~ there's such easy charm in abundantly flowering windowboxes.

Thanks, dear Mise! I shall bask in the glory of your lovely description for a while.

Ms M ~ perhaps there are beehives in a rooftop garden nearby. Wouldn't that be nice.

  14. It took me a second to locate Meeps too. It always feels like an extra treat when I see her in the picture. Love the new banner - congratulations! Just confirms my opinion that they are a site of great taste. Now where do they keep the champagne glasses in this lovely apartment?
