Venerdi in Venice: A Weensy Stroll

ink & watercolour ACEO weensy, 3.5" x 2.5" [9 x 6.5cm]

Let's stroll into the weekend, dropping our cares into this canal in Venice, in a serene and quiet location near San Martino Vescova, away from the madding crowds.  Grazie mille to Pierre of Venice Daily Photo for his constant inspiration.  {Happy holidays, Pierre!}

We can vote on where we'll stay based on the colour of our favourite gelato.  If no pets are allowed, someone may need to take a trip to the local Hotel for Dogs.  But this puppy only barks "Meep, meep," so I'm thinking we can smuggle him in and no-one will be the wiser. And on that note...

Happy Venerdi in Venice to you!

  1. Oh, how I would love to be here with you in your colorful weensy Venice right now! Perhaps the kitty in the boat would like to join us? As for where to stay, I'm opting for the "strawberry gelato" palazzo—there's just something about a pink house . . .

  2. Pure delight! Love all these wonderful colors, especially reflected in the water. I vote for staying at the passion fruit gelato palazzo with the green shutters. Have a wonderful weekend!

  3. Cunning -- especially the cat in the boat. As to where we'll stay -- my favorite is pistachio.

  4. A superb getaway for the weekend! Gliding slowing along in a boat would be delectable....

  5. Alexa ~ but you are here with us, aren't you? :) And absolutely, kitty must come along, too ~ I'm sure they'll like each other.

    Katie ~ passionfruit is one of my favourite fruits, in no small part due to its name!

    Hiker ~ thought you'd appreciate that. Pistachio, hey? I'm thinking we may be on the lookout for something in patchwork... surely it can be arranged.

    Ms M ~ waves lapping gently like the cat with its bowl of cream. ;)

  6. I like pistacho, too! And orange. And cherry. And lemon. I guess that means I'll stay anywhere.

    Delicious, Shell.

  7. Oh-oh. I like licorice .. that's not pastel, is it! Never mind, I can sacrifice, and have pistachio for once.

  8. Pop Culture Nerd ~ I'm leaning in all directions too.

    Hi, Yvonne ~ lovely to see you here! How about we try for something with licorice-coloured trims?

  9. You know, I have to admit something sad. I've never had gelato.

    I know.

    I've seen it before though, the colors are lovely. As is this illustration. I adore the little kitty in the boat.

  11. Thanks, Amy ~ with your scorching temps at the moment, now sounds like a perfect time to change that. Tastes every bit as fresh and lovely as it looks!

    Cafe ~ unless you have a puppy spy cam in my studio, I don't know where that would be. ;) Mind you, a bridge, a canal, colourful villas, shutters... fits most of my Venice illos!

  13. Thanks, Mise ~ I might borrow some from her.

  14. I'm not particular about the color, all of these places look charming and out-of-the-way and that suits me as long as they don't melt.

    Amy, next time you're out my way, I'm taking you to Bulgarini and that's that.

  15. Hmm. I don't think I'll be smuggling my dog. She definitely barks. The colors are so lush in this one. Gorgeous.

  16. Petrea ~ they will fade, but they will not melt.

    Margaret ~ we'll just cough loudly whenever she barks.

  17. I rather like the scarf over her shoulder. I do love your little meeps, Shell, even if I'm not much of a dog person, particularly since the neighbour's dog left a not very nice parcel outside our front door this morning. That and quite a bit of frantic magpie poop inside the house ... well, I'm just not myself today.

  18. Oh dear, MmeB! My mum can relate on having maggie-magpie poop inside, and the other package isn't very friendly either. If it's any help, no-one in my meeps does anything like that. Kind of like the royal family...

  19. Oh dear, Mme B! I'll defend the pooch and say your neighbor should take responsibility for that parcel. I'm afraid I can't help you with the magpie, however, except to say they're not known to be good guests and you shouldn't have let him in...

  20. What a serene scene! I am almost tempted to rush out and buy a pup of my own.

  21. Shell, it's me again, wondering whether this one will be making its way to etsy? I've rather taken to it.

  23. Cali ~ and I have a suspicion as to which breed it might be...

    Mise ~ I had a word with it and it's rather taken with you, too. {E-mailing you...}
