Travelling with everything you need in your carry-on luggage is light. Carefree. And oft much envied !

Wearing a classic black maillot during the day with jeans and a dash of Hermès jauntily knotted at one's neck sounds peachy.  For an elegant dinner, team it with a black pencil skirt, trade the scarf for a statement necklace and you're guaranteed to use every piece of cutlery correctly before a modestly-partial disrobe and champagne-fuelled moonlight dip. Master the art of tying your Hermès as a bandeau, a belt and a halter-neck. Add in a white shirt and several strings of faux pearls long enough to wrap around your waist, and you can see out a week without wearing the same thing twice !

Of course, if you take your most valuable thing with you ~ something along the lines of today's illustration ~ this elegant theory is completely blown out of the water and relegated to a suitcase ~ in which case, you might as well opt for excess baggage, boots and all.  So let us find a fleet of gold-plated trolleys and be on our way.  And on that note ...

Happy Fashionable Friday to you !

  1. I was thinking about fashion today. I never seem to like what I'm wearing. Can't find anything in my closet. To me, fashion isn't about what's "in", it's about personal style and what you feel good in. I think I would feel good in everything you mentioned here!

  2. Merci, ma belle—now I know exactly what to pack for my upcoming trip to you-know-where! (My "fluffball" will be of the stuffed variety, however.)

  3. Ah, good advice! I'd probably do the first option with matching pieces so I could travel light. But the dress is so lovely....

    1. Always travelling in spring and summer makes such travel easy, Ms M ... and that dress really suits you. Macie will fit in the carry-on, too ~ though maybe not at the same time as this little traveller ... ;)

  5. Very fashionable! These very high heels are back in style, even with a platform like I used to wear them in the – can’t remember now, was it the 60s – no more like the 70s….. but as they say, plus ça change plus c’est la même chose!

    1. Thank you, Vagabonde ! Things coming back into fashion make the declutterers of the world such as myself have that very brief moment of, "Perhaps I should have hung onto that after all ..." Then it passes.

  6. I come for the illustration and the cats. Fashion? I fall under "victim" When I was a kid all I wanted was to go to Ramona Convent School so I could wear a uniform. You could say my personal style is 'Mao Tse -tung.'

    1. You crack me up, PA. I'm very happy for you to visit in spite of the fashion, not because of it. Thank you. :) And if you saw the amount of black in my personal wardrobe, you'd feel right at home...

  7. Hah! Speaking of black, a friend of mine says I dress like a Fascist. Love the colors in this one, Shell.
