Fashionable Fairytale Friday: Behold Carefully, the Glass Slipper

Happy Valentine's Day or thereabouts !  I'm all for anything that celebrates love in general, along with the romantic kind.  By happystance, from cali {a loyal regular at our comments parties}, asked for my take on Harrods' exclusive line of Cinderella-inspired designs by nine shoe designers, from Jimmy Choo to Charlotte Olympia to Salvatore Ferragamo.  How could I resist?  And coincidentally, it fits Valentine's Day's foot rather nicely, too ~ so it turns out this post does have a romantic bent after all.

Alors, the real-life shoe designers have prudently taken the glass notion philosophically rather than literally, given their shoes aren't being conjured up by those of the fairy godmother persuasion.  As I have no such restrictions, the glass slippers I've designed for Cinderella are made of breathable Comfort Glass ~ classic with a twist.

Our Cinderella is inspired by Jennifer Lawrence and her beautiful Dior-clad tumble up the Oscar stairs in 2013.  Guess who leapt to his chivalrous feet along with her co-star Bradley Cooper?  Our Hugh, but of course.  The universe works in mysterious ways ~ though if she was wearing one of my glass slippers, it would have explained everything. And on that note ...

Happy Fashionable Fairytale Friday to you !

  1. What an unforgettable moment. Certainly made for a stunning photo!

Love the glass slipper. But I'd need a flat heel. My days of tottering about on high heels are OVER! :-)

    1. Cali, she made it look so beautiful ~ she's my role model if I ever stack it up some stairs !! As for your glass slippers, how about we remove the back section and come up with a 2 inch kitten heeled mule? ;)

  2. I like the Paul Andrew slipper most. Never in a million years be able to walk in them, but if I had the money to buy them, I'd probably have the money to hire someone to do the walking for me.

  3. Some of those designer shoes look utterly painful! I much prefer yours dear Shell. Breathable comfort glass - perfect for any Cinderella.
Beautiful painting as usual my dear. If I looked that fabulous whenever I took a tumble I would be a very happy lass. Unfortunately I look more like Bumble The Clown. I've always thought the original Disney Cinderella was a chic girl. Not only does she wear glass slippers, but on her off days she sports the classic black ballet flat.

    1. Thank you, dear Debs !! Maybe practice makes perfect when it comes to taking tumbles ~ clumsiness is probably a good sign. :)

  4. I don't remember what I wore on Friday but it wasn't anything like this! I love Jennifer Lawrence, she's so much herself. She could wear your glass slippers if her dress wasn't too long!

  5. She may have taken a tumble, but didn't she do it beautifully?? As for her knight in shining Armani, if he were anywhere in my vicinity I'd slip into these perfectly perilous glass slippers—and guarantee a crash-and-rescue!

    1. Should the need arise, I'll do my best to channel her, Alexa !! She certainly did it magnificently. And any time you think Hugh might be in your vicinity, ma chère, that's an excellent plan.

  6. Perfect for Valentine's weekend! My high-heel days are also over, but I'd take a low-heel "Shell designer glass" sandal!
