Tea for Tuesday: On Wings of Teacups

ink & watercolour illustration, 7" x 8.75" [18 x 22.5cm] BROWSE PRINTS

Surprise!  I'm back already, with a large pot of ginger tea brewing left of stage.  Which is entirely different from left of centre.  Or so I'm told.  I took this inspiration on a flight of fancy by replacing the perfectly functional handles with golden winged ones.  Somewhat cumbersome to drink with, but worth it for elevation of the Fetchingness Factor.  Please, take your cupcake at your leisure and I'll pour when ready.   No tea party would be complete without some music. Ella prefers her namesake's rendition, though the Muppets come a close second.  Stop me now.  And on that note...

Happy Tea for Tuesday to you!

  2. It's a Shell Sherree bonus!

    I'd forgotten there was anything to that song. I liked all three renditions, but the Muppets take the sugar cake.

  3. Favourite Vintage Finds ~ and it works just as well for patty cakes! ;)

    The Muppets are in a class of their own, Petrea.

  4. You have so many loyal fans, Shell, that tea for two will surely not suffice. There will be unseemly squabbling, possibly leading to breakages. I'd hate to see those lovely wings chipped.

  8. Wonderful having a "Shell bonus" today! The winged cups look as if they may belong to Mercury, the winged messenger. And to have them filled with enchanting Ginger tea and served with delectable cupcakes... it is teatime for the god(esses) :-)

  9. Such a tasty Tuesday treat! Delightful drawing. I'll try to just eat one cupcake, but I know I'll have many cups of tea. As much as I like the goofy rendition by the Muppets, and the classic Ella, I'll vote for the mellow Doris Day version of Tea for Two.

    dkshopgirl ~ at 10pm, anything can happen!

    Hiker ~ Ella told me you'd say that.

    Ms M ~ mercurial teacups? I like it!

    Thanks, Katie! You can have more than one cupcake ~ they are sugar-free {and would you like to buy this watch?}

    Cali ~ hee! Sounds good to me!

  13. Yep, better make it tea for twenty, at least, in these elegant cups. And ginger is my favorite (how'd you know?). As for the musical selection, Ella trumps Doris, but the Muppets' version beats out even Ella.
    Good to see you here so soon!

  14. Thanks, Alexa ~ I like surprises! And don't ask me how I knew about the ginger tea. Perhaps Ella received telepathic communiques from your kitties and passed them on to me...
