Fashionable Friday: Vintage Road Trip

ink & watercolour illustration, 5.75" x 8.5" [14.5 x 21.5cm]

Bonjour. I have returned.  No, this is not a self-portrait, though my hair could easily have grown this long in my blogging absence if I'd allowed it to.  Nor have I been driving around Australia with a rakish puppy dog poking his head happily out the window of a charming old petrol-guzzler.  But somewhere out there, it made for an attractive photo shoot{I drew on this for inspiration but its photo credit source has vanished, sorry... probably with a large pastel-coloured picnic basket into an eternal country summer.}

But what's that I hear you saying as your forehead furrows with concern.  Où est Francophile Friday?  Dove è Venerdi in Venice? Fret not, they will be back!  But while contemplating my navel for a protracted period {it's easy, I do yoga}, I thought it might be fun to post more serendipitously ~ more on a whim ~ which feels rather fitting.  Often on Fridays, and sometimes not.  Perhaps a different day entirely on the odd occasion.  Let's take the notion for a spin and see how it goes.  All that aside, it's magnificent to see you again.  You look even lovelier than before.  And on that note...

Happy Fashionable Friday to you!

  2. So wonderful to see you Shell! And what a fun and fashionable way to celebrate Friday (and your return to serendipitous postings). Love the outfit, the dog, the car. Marvelous! The link to the inspiration photo worked for me, but I like your version so much better. Cheers!

  3. No Francophile Friday, no problema as long as we have fashion to look at! What a charming gas guzzler (the car - not her!) and I love that Samsonite Black Label Vintage Beauty Case! A few years back they were being sold for ridiculously low prices. Why, oh why, didn't I buy the carry on?

  4. I was just thinking of you today, Shell. Maybe it was a premonition. In any case it's good to see a post from you whenever you catch the whim.

  5. Welcome back Shell! Wonderful to see you back and of course to see a gorgeous new illo! Puppy dog looks much happier and more relaxed in your version. From one yoga-doing Sagi to another, I'm sure that posting more serendipitously - more on a whim will be just the ticket! Hugs to you and you-know-who from me and he who purrs. :)

  6. Cafe ~ edible earrings could be handy between meals!

    Thanks, Katie ~ if only I could draw outfits and have them materialise in my wardrobe, wouldn't that be handy! {I'm glad the link works ~ thanks!}

    Cali ~ you're most kind! Sorry to hear about the Samsonite ~ the one that got away, damn.

    You strike me as having a fey streak, Petrea, so I'm not surprised.

    Favourite Vintage Finds ~ how cool, maybe we gave the puppy some of our chilled out yoga vibes! Hugs back to you and Brrrt!

  7. It's good to see you back, Shell, and I applaud your new serendipity, and note that your girl is better than the real one in the source photo, who looks a bit on the anxious side of sulky, whereas yours is clearly thinking of Hugh, as is right and proper.

  10. Well, thank heaven's you stopped by. And with what a car, I might add. Please come inside and take that lovely bag with you. We may not be in Paris, but that doesn't mean we can't raise a glass of some vin extraordinaire.

    Did I tell you how much I love those shoes?
