Furry Friends Friday: The Puppy Wings It

ink & watercolour illustration, 7" x 8.75" [18 x 22.5cm] ACQUIRE PRINTS
While those geographically inclined towards the Northern Hemisphere are jauntily stowing away throw rugs in cedar chests and exchanging velvet cushions for spring floral linens, I'm layering thermals and cranking up the eco-heater {the greenest nod I can give without becoming hypothermic}This puppy dog knows where to be on a cool autumn night heading into winter.  And he's happy to share.  There's room for more than one wagging tail in this suede wing chair.  And on that note...

Happy Furry Friends Friday to you!

PS:  Next time you want to write home about something, perhaps you'd like to exercise your penmanship on some gorgeous personalised stationery decorated with a Shell Sherree illustration?  I'm honoured to join the selection of talented artists contributing designs to Nôte Couture, based right here in Australia.  There's a lovely array of papergoods, including recipe cards & innovative mouse mat notepads, customised with the design of your choice.  At the time of posting, you'll see my KittyKins in Paris illo featured in the New Designs at the top of  the home page.  Life's a Beach is also there, with more coming soon.  Happy handwriting...

  1. This pup has the right idea! And so do you—long live the handwritten note, last vestige of the civilized. Let's hope it doesn't disappear altogether (I promise to keep it alive chez moi). Stay warm, Shell!

  4. This puppy has totally sold me on the eco-heater. Never heard of it, so googled and there's one in my future -- some long, far off day when temps get below the 90's.

  5. Just a perfect picture. We have a new puppy and I wish she was as well behaved as your little pooch. (If my daughter doesn't watch out she'll lose all her shoes). Once I get myself a Shell Sherree note pad it will be no more emails for me :)

  6. Just taking a quick break from jauntily stowing away throw rugs in cedar chests and exchanging velvet cushions for spring floral linens to wish you luck with the papergoods enterprise and admire the painting - a lavender shade of purple is this season's big colour, thanks to you.

  7. Alexa ~ I imagine you have at least one fountain pen, n'est-ce pas?

Hee! The Queen Mum of Meeps. Virginia, you and Meepsie have planted a huge smile on my dial.

    Thanks, Favourite Vintage Finds! Animal contentedness is one of my purposes in life. {I know you can relate.}

Hiker ~ I just googled it out of curiosity and have seen things much swisher-looking than what I was sold. Dang!

Debs ~ err, all the best with your daughter's shoes. And I know you're a Note Couture fan from way back. You're ahead of the curve!

Mise ~ you wear your jauntiness so attractively.

  11. It's about 168 degrees here right now but I'll cuddle up with that puppy anytime! And your illos are perfect for Nôte Couture stationery.

Stay warm, dear Shell, and enjoy your weekend.

  12. dkshopgirl ~ I find it hard to imagine a jack russell sitting anywhere for long.

Thanks, Genie ~ he's heading for a winter of content.

Ms M ~ the wing chair has such a classic bone structure.

Pop Culture Nerd ~ I'll do my best to imagine your 168 degrees as it chills out here. I'm such a wuss ~ Brisbane supposedly has mild winters.

  13. Shell, it seems just about every drawing you've done, including this pup, would make a charming set of note cards. Congratulations on this new venture!

  14. Perfect picture to warm up my chilly morning! I just adore this interior (your attention to detail is amazing -- the mirror frame is stunning!) and can very much imagine myself relaxing on the plush purple chair with this puppy at my side. Very exciting about the Nôte Couture venture! I agree with Petrea - any of your illustrations would look great on note cards.

  19. Petrea ~ again, so relieved Boz is feeling better. It hurts so much when our fur-kids aren't well and we just want to make it all better.

Katie ~ if I ever visit you, I promise to draw a mirror just like this onto your wall. ;)

You're welcome, Cafe. I figured it was time to balance the scales again.

Ah, I feel warmer already, Marylène. Merci, ma chère.

Dianne ~ oui, he's smug in his snugness.

Kellie ~ I saw the photos of your girls post-spa after I drew this ~ oh, they are scrumptious.

  21. I hope that adorable pup likes dogs of the pit bull variety, because Tommy wants to curl up with him on that velvet wing chair. And my cats want to join your Kitty Kat in Paris. We're all delighted by your happy animals!

  22. I thought you and Miss Eva might get a tickle from that, V!

Aww, Susan ~ how could he not love Tommy! And your kitties are more than welcome to climb aboard, too. What a gorgeous bundle.
