Bicycle Built for Two

ink & watercolour weensy meep miniature, 2.5" x 3.5" [6.5 x 9cm ] ACQUIRE A MEEP

This is the closest I've come to a bicycle in a long time.  Maybe I'll acquire one for decorative purposes.  I'd consider riding it down to the local shops just for the pleasure of filling the basket with an armful of fresh tulips and a crusty baguette, but the last time a bicycle and I became closely acquainted, it was not a happy affair.  And I don't fancy helmet hair.  Better to lean it suggestively against the house and enjoy the daydream.  You're most welcome to take it for a spin if you're so inclined ~ good luck encouraging kitty to wear her helmet...

  1. aah! Shell ~ I'm wondering if I could ride it, that front wheel looks a bit wobbly but on the positive it has a nice guard so that I don't catch my gypsie skirt in the chain. Kitty wants to ride with her fur flying free ~ I think we'll take a chance! would you like deux baguettes or trois ?

  2. I'm with All Things French—Kitty and I will both chance it. This looks SO much like my own blue bicyclette that I think I can ride it wobbly wheel and all. You just stay put, Shell—I'll be back in a nonce with tea and macarons to go with those baguettes!

  3. This reminds me of the blue bike I had as a kid, but my kitties wouldn't ride in the basket. I was bit too reckless for them (and for me, too!)

  4. A bicyle as decoration is not a bad idea (it works quite well in your illo, Shell). Perhaps I'll get a pretty purple one for the garden, and let the vines tangle up in the spokes.

  5. A bottle of champagne would fit perfectly in that basket. Of course we don't want kitty getting tipsy!

  6. All Things French ~ hm, I was going to suggest deux, but even with Alexa heading off for macarons, I suspect an extra baguette would come in handy. Merci! {I have the fromage.}

Alexa ~ thank you, I'll leave the macarons in your wonderfully capable hands. We have a nice balance of food groups here.

GO, Ms M! Now's your chance...this kitty looks up to the challenge.

    Petrea ~ that's a beautiful idea!

Cali ~ say, let's allow for a few bottles of bubbly. And the birdy looks like he's had a head start. Mind you, he's balancing rather well at this early stage in proceedings...

  7. Before I get too carried away with the next food group (chocolate) let me just say that the bicycle and le petit chat are adorable! Just look at those lace curtains!

I'll be back with some chocolate.
    meep!

  8. There's something so inherently graceful about an oldfashioned bicycle that it would be the act of a philistine to ride it. But leaning, yes, I can endorse leaning. What a lovely ladylike shade of blue.

  9. Remember the saying, Image is everything? Besides, you wouldn't want to upset the bluebird on the back wheel.

Untal: A meep illo is not tall.

  10. Hey! That looks just like my daughter's bike. Same color even. The only thing is that she lacks a cute basket.

  13. Oh, I want, I want, I want! When I was small, my family only had one bike for all six of us kids to share and it was a boys' bike. I always wanted a girly one of my own. I think this darling one would do perfectly. I'd volunteer to get the baguettes every morning and I'm not even a morning person!

  15. I'd fancy a bike just like this one and a cottage with blue shutters. Thank you Shell will take it for a spin in the Loire Valley. Am happy for kitty and birdie to join me. Shall wear my back pack and fill it with vintage finds. What would you like me to bring back for you? :)

  18. I can't remember the last time I rode a bike... this one is so cute it would be tempting though. And I would love to make a helmet for the kitty, with little holes for the ears of course. :)
