Francophile Friday: Together Apartment

 ink & watercolour illustration, 8.75" x 7" [22.5 x 18cm]

It's officially the 11th day of winter here. {Australia is apparently one of the few places that changes seasons on the 1st of the calendar month each quarter, rather than with the more natural ebb and flow of cycles of the moon, the changing of leprechauns' underwear and the packing or unpacking of squirrels' nuts.}   As I sit here inside with my lilac wool beret and enough layers to make a mille-feuille flake with envy, I can feel myself slowly thawing in these rays of sun in the apartment in Paris that I've rented us for the weekend.  I'm off to pick up some holistic food for our furry friends, so please let yourself in and make yourself comfie while I'm gone.  {But please ~ don't let the dog out.}  And on that note...

Happy Francophile Friday to you!

  1. Hey, I got here first so I'm grabbing the best bed pour moi! What a fab apartment in the perfect place—and I'm loving your great linkage (you've learned a lot from our TG)! The pups are safe with me, Shell.

  2. Fantastique! This is my idea of a perfect Paris apartment. I'm so glad you posted this before my bedtime as I'll now have sweet dreams of this adorable apartment. I'll snuggle into that comfy chair (don't worry, there's room for the cat too) and wait for the party to start. Or for the changing of the leprechauns' underwear, which could be interesting to say the least.

  3. Such a fantasy apartment. Is that my LegoLand pup? Love the chair. Now, if I can just find a way to trick Katie into vacating it. I know! I'll tell her there is champagne and VMs in the kitchen.

Remember the old expression: an écureuil and his nuts are soon parted. ;-)

  4. Alexa ~ I'm a bit warmer today, thank you! There are no peas under any of the mattresses, so you're guaranteed to find one that will give you a perfect night's sleep. {I'm glad you like the link ~ Pres Linkin is a great role model!}

Katie ~ excellent, as the kitten looks like she's ready for a cuddle! Sweet dreams...

LOL, Cali!! And your Legoland pup had to vacate his spot at the hydrant some time ~ this seemed a cosy place for him to land.

  6. I'm on the way to Paris. The entire British royal family wanted to come too, but I said no in case they sat on the cat. Have you got a hot water bottle? There is nothing more cosy, and you could knit a cover for it. Am I wrong in imaging you as a knitter?

  7. WEll I'll be sitting in my tiny flat in Paris by Tuesday but I don't think it's as cozy as yours dear Shell. Stay warm and expect TONS of photos to make you smile.

  8. May I bring my 87 books, Shell? I'll just spread them out on the floor and sleep on them so someone else can have the bed.

Now, who's doing the cooking? Once I'm on the floor, I'm not getting up.

  9. Do not tempt me with another sitting room. The detail on this is lovely, but nothing compares to the Shell original on my wall. I'm sooo happy with it.

  10. All right. Katie can cuddle with the cat. I'll cuddle with the dog. As far as cooking...I'll wash dishes but I don't think you want me to cook.

  11. Thanks, Lynn ~ Katie can sit between you and the kitty. ;)

Mise ~ wise call on the royals. I do have a hot water bottle and funny, I was only just talking about hottie covers with someone else. I also imagine myself as a knitter but one tea cosy two winters ago exhausted me.

Thank you, dear V!!! I'm hopping from one foot to the other in anticipation. Bon voyage! x

Cafe ~ good idea ~ anyone driving to the apartment can play "Spot the dog" to pass the time!

PCN ~ by all means. I recommend bringing soft covers. And I think we'll be eating out.

I wouldn't dream of it, Hiker. Thank you ~ I'm so glad it's yours!

Petrea ~ no, I've decreed that we'll eat out ~ no washing dishes for anyone this weekend. :)

  13. Lilac sounds great! As for us, I wish we could go layer-less it's sooooooooooo hot and humid. Thanks for reminding me of mille-feuille! You made me laugh so much.

  15. My mum gave me the beret when I was fifteen and I love the excuse to wear it. Happy Queen's Birthday weekend to you too, MmeB ~ stay snug and enjoy!

GyPsY ~ I'm trying to imagine your temps in hopes it will raise my own. ;)

Cali ~ heh heh! They don't have that kind at Etsy, what a shame.

  19. My English being a little slow those last days just like me (the reason why I don't always comment even if I pay you a visit every week), I first thought you were coming in Paris for real !!!
What a disappointment ! It is soooo good to meet our virtual friends in the real life ! And I was sooo thrilled I might lead you to many places you could change in wonderful watercolors ...
    May be one day ....
In the meantime, gros bisous de Paris.

  20. Oh, how sweet, Marylène! I, too, am disappointed not to be meeting you for real ~ for the time being, at least. :) Gros bisous de Brisbane.

  22. Favourite Vintage Finds ~ not to worry, a few of us are still lounging around here ~ pull up a chair!

  23. Well I'm glad you a have that cozy chair and a couple of warm fluffy pets to curl up with. Cats make great feet warmers. ;)

Can you come paint my walls like that?

  24. Amy ~ ain't that the truth! As for your walls, I might be able to if you live in a dolls' house. :)

  26. Thanks, Lori Lynn ~ easier for me to draw it than redecorate here at home. :)

Merci, grazie, thank you for joining our conversation lounge. Your smile lights up the room. Even more beautifully than our crystal chandelier. x
