Francophile Friday: Walk This Way

 ink & watercolour illustration, 7' x 8.75" [18 x 22.5cm]

I can't tell you how tempted I was to put this puss in boots, but you can imagine, I'm sure.  Last Tuesday's train just pulled into one of our favourite cities.   In thank-you-dear-Katie's photo inspiration for today's setting, these Parisian doors were firmly closed to inquisitive eyes, but it seems our mysterious goldie-locked blonde traveller and her snowy white feline companion know how to charm their way in.  They are going into an 'Illustration Protection Programme' and you won't see them again until they are ready to be unveiled properly. {It could be a while ~ I've arranged for regular champagne and macaron deliveries}.  By the way, I've missed you all this week.  And on that note...

Happy Francophile Friday Fleurish to you!

  1. Beautifully made for Friday.
I assume you've arranged those champagne & macaron deliveries for this canine!

  2. Did you have a nice mini-break, Shell?

Charming illo, as always. Could the puss maybe wear red high heels?

    Happy Friday everyone!

  3. It does indeed look like a puss in heels, PCN, albeit white ones. I've never seen a kitty walk this way, but I'm so charmed I can't stand it.

Oh! I finally have a WV I like: trowly. What shall we use it for?

  4. Deliciously dainty Shell! Looking forward to seeing more of these two! Hope you have had a good week and wishing you a lovely weekend!

  5. Cafe ~ mais oui! Have a bubbly weekend...

Thanks, PCN! I'm kind of glad now that I kept her bare-padded ~ she looks cute on tip-toes. But red shoes would accessorise beautifully, wouldn't they!

Petrea ~ Ella doesn't walk this way, but she'd amuse me no end if she did! Hm ~ trowly. The luggage was wheeled inside on a trowly? ...

C@FVF ~ I'm glad you like them. It's the luggage that really does it for you, isn't it. ;) Happy weekend to you, too.

  6. This is one of your most charming drawings ever, and the dress and hat are just perfect. I imagine the Illustration Protection Programme as a cross between a strict library and a luxury spa - is that correct?

  7. Such style and the pusscat adds a certain glamour. Cruising for that perfect flower ...

Happy Friday to you too Shell. I hope your weekend is relaxing.

  10. Does Virginia mean "chuffed"? Because I'm pretty sure that's what I am over this classy miss and her tip-toeing kitty. And if I could walk that way, believe me—I would! (Looking forward to more of this duo.)

  11. Thank you, Mise ~ and your thoughts on the IPP went down very nicely with them, though it turns out it's very hard to get Hot Chocolate Dead Sea Mud out of fur.

MmeB ~ pussycats can't help being glamorous, can they! Happy weekend amongst your own perfect flowers...

Hiker ~ I'm hoping some of it will rub off onto me.

Hee hee, Virginia! Yes, I think Alexa found the word you were seeking ~ "chuffed". Here, if something is "suss", it's "suspicious". Those web content crooks are beyond suss. A pox on their house.

Alexa ~ I'm chuffed that you're chuffed. I catch myself constantly tip-toeing around the house ~ no idea why! ;)

  12. Is she shopping for a designer pet carrier? Wouldn't want that cute feline to get lost wandering the streets of Paris. Such a lovely illo, Shell.

  13. Cali ~ oh, cute profile pic! If she got lost and met up with this little guy, it could be a case of opposites attracting. They'd look good together, though. :)

  14. Love this! The way the flower pots mirror Ms. Blonde's curving walk through the doorway. What will she see inside? And where will they go next?

  15. Of course doors open when our traveller and her faithful companion show up. And how could they not with that stunning dress and hat?! Your drawings are truly transportative. (Is that a word? If not, it should be.) It will be very hard to be patient for the "proper unveiling," but I'll happily snack on macarons and sip champagne while I wait!

  16. Ms M ~ ah, questions, questions. Good questions!

Katie ~ sounds like a fine word. ;) Thanks again for sharing your lovely photos with me! Clink

  17. Last week I ran into this woman who was talking a walk with her cat. Really. The cat just follows her when she goes for her walks. They go all over the place.

  18. What a lovely tale and tail, Margaret! Mum ran into a lady and her cat walking in the bush near her home like that, but very different from heading out into the streets!

  19. Happy belated Friday Shell!

The puss could definitely do with some sensible but stylish footwear. I'm glad this pair is still off adventuring. I am quite envious of blondie's pink hat. Oh and all the flowers are soo lovely! Great illustration, as ever. :D

  20. Thanks, Amy! I'd like one of those hats, too, though I'd have to find a dress to go with it.
