Francophile Friday: Hop Into Ladurée

ink & watercolour illustration, photo inspiration Virginia Jones

This little Easter bunny is all tuckered out.  She's been busy with preparations, and who can blame her for nodding off with a contented tummy, full of scrumptious Ladurée macarons.  If she's late arriving anywhere because of her diversions, I have a feeling she'll be forgiven ~ certainly by anyone who shares her love of a fine macaron.

Thanks to dear Virginia {and her gorgeous blog, Paris Through My Lens} for her sweet inspiration!

The Ladurée site takes you on an armchair tour of various shop locations ~ not just in Paris, but around the globe.  There are none in Australia yet, and that show pony Sydney might be the first to attract one.  Yet a store at the feet of Brisbane's petite Eiffel Tower would be perfectly appropriate, don't you think?  And on that note...

Happy Francophile Friday, and a safe, peaceful and hoppy Easter to you all!

  1. That's exactly what I'll look like after eating all the chocolate eggs and ham this weekend.

    Happy weekend, all!

  2. What bliss. (And another shop that needs your talent.)

  3. Had to enlarge this one just to make sure those weren't bunny pellets!

The fripperies from the other day look like the stuff on these gorgeous boxes.

    Joyeuses Pâques à tous!

    Allez hop!

  4. Fabulous! I love the subtle colors and pretty detailing on all the boxes. And this is exactly how I want to spend the whole weekend - alternating between eating macarons and happily dozing.

  5. Show pony! You crack me up.

This one's another icon in the Shell Sherree museum of adorability.

  6. Cafe ~ and perhaps Gérard Mulot after that...

PCN ~ including the fluffy tail? Very cute!

Margaret ~ who'd have the heart to disturb her...

Hiker ~ ok, I really have to dust off my French and send some of those letters.

LOL, Cali!! Heaven forbid. :) As for the fripperies ~ perhaps that's subconsciously why I liked them so much when I found them!

Katie ~ then I hope you have exactly that ~ enjoy!

Thank you, Petrea ~ I like the idea of having my own museum of adorability. ;)

  7. OHhhhhh Pardon, mon chère Shell!!! I am late to the party at Ladureé!!! I knew when I took those photos of the window that maybe you would work your magic. I am so pleased of course. Since the thé and petite macarons set us back more than a few euros, I consider it worth the trip now.

  8. Oh la la! You've done it again, Shell. To paraphrase: Macarons! Macarons!! Macarons!!! You can have your peeps and less-than-70%-cacao chocolate bunnies—I'll take a box of these beauties, merci bien!

  9. Virginia ~ you're never too late for a party here!!! Thanks as always ~ such gorgeous photos. I hope the tea measured up to the macarons!

Alexa ~ our pleasure ~ which flavour ~ or a mixed box, perhaps? How about the extra tall one standing up at the back?

  11. Thanks so much, Ms M!! That's a lovely idea ~ I'll remember it ahead of next Easter. :)

  12. I am jealous of this happy little bunny. I'd rather have a pile of macarons instead of the white chocolate that seems to appear around Easter. Yum. The little packages they come in look even more pretty in your illustrations. :D

  13. Amy ~ I think I'd have just as difficult a time there choosing which box I'd like as choosing which macarons I'd like!

  14. Shell,
I had violette thé and Peter and Alice helped me practice mon français so I could order. Unfortunately the waitress was not amused by my "southern" French. Well "la tee dah"!! I thought I did pretty well....considering. Let's just say she did not make it as one my delightful French strangers.

  15. Virginia -- oh la la, y'all!
Shell -- what ARE you fave macaron flavors, if you were forced to choose?

  16. Obviously, I meant o say "your," Shell.
Virginia -- I can tease you because even though I was born in Manhattan, both of my parents grew up in SW Virginia.

  17. Thanks, Unseen Rajasthan!

Virginia ~ I hope I'm not completely tongue-tied when I make it there ~ good on you for giving it a whirl, and even a twirl. I wonder what she'd make of my Australian French accent. :)

Alexa ~ based on the flavours I've had locally: chocolat, framboise et caramel. Oh, and citron. I also love the look of violet macarons!! Based on my imagination, I have a feeling I'd also enjoy the Caramel au beurre salé, Café, Pétales de rose ... and you know, I'm watching the little stacks of macarons on the Ladurée site scroll past while I type this, and I really don't know how I'd choose! Colour might help to be a deciding factor...
