Balloons over Paris

Give me a bottle of Dior and a balloon flight over Paris and I'd be an even happier little lady! My illustration is based on the print ad for Miss Dior Chérie. For another mood-lifter and Paris-teaser, check out Sofia Coppola's delightful commercial, to the inspired accompaniment of Brigitte Bardot's 'Moi Je Joue'.
{And the fragrance? A blend of sophistication, impish femininity and innocence, evoked by green tangerine, wild strawberries, violet, popcorn - again with the food!}

  1. Look at all your beautiful drawings. Back home now and paying proper attention to my blogpals. Lovely to go away. Lovely to be home. Interesting that even drawings of chocolate produce a grand response!

  2. Ah, welcome home, Loani!! Happy you're back. Bet your beautiful kitty is, too. So nice to see little snippets of your holiday travels at Grand Purl Baa and more exciting news of Wild Tea Cosies. And yes, how mighty is the power of chocolate!

  3. I shared this also with Maria yesterday because she used to live near this link. When I checked out Sofia Coppola's balloons over Paris I thought I recognized Maison Stohrer. Be sure to check out the little video at the bottom.

  4. Thank you, TG! And lucky Maria living around there! Thank you for showing me Maison Stohrer {I love Carol's paintings, too}. It could be fortunate that I don't have something like that just down the road. Oh, who am I kidding? I want one just like that. Or Laduree. Not fussy.

  5. Oh Shell, where on earth do you find commercials like this one? How absolutely wonderful and as much an ad for Paris' food and love and the Seine and bridges and balloons and beautiful cyclamen dresses and strawberry tarts and macarons and, and, and, as much as fragrance!
    I did like Diorissimo and Miss Dior perfumes when I was very young but now I stick with Opium YSL because it seems to suit my skin and I've received so many compliments on my perfume that that's where I've decided to stay. Boring? Yes, I suppose ...

    I've reached the end of the illustrations and it has been such a treat for a rainy day. Thank you my dear Shell. You are truly gifted and not just with your drawing but also wit and humour too! I can see many more blog awards coming your way in future.

  6. Dear MmeBenaut, Thank you, too! I've been enjoying following you around this afternoon...

    I was just lucky with this one - I saw the print ad and when I searched it online, found Ms Coppola's stunning commercial. I can watch it over and over again!

    Yes, 'signature perfumes' or variety? Even though I use a little every day, it takes me such a long time to get through a bottle. I use Jean Paul Gaultier's Classique and Fragile in the cooler months, and L'Eau d'Issey {Miyake} in summer. I love the thought of variety but it's nice to have a scent that people recognise as yours.

    Night night, MmeBenaut! Your fingers must be weary. Thanks again. x
